Cat converters as scrap metal?
Someone told me that the car catalsytic converters can bring pretty good
money from the scrap metal dealers, anyone know what they pay for them?

Catalytic convertors are worth quite a lot of money, yes.
In general, the cheapest of catalytic convertors will be bought for about $15 or more. The larger, the better, and the more foreign, the better.
The most expensive catalytic convertors are usually off the most expensive cars (up to $250 per catcon). But even things like Honda's will have Catalytic Convertors that are worth maybe $150. The trick is getting in on the industry, and knowing what model catalytic convertor you have! This isn't the easiest thing to do unless you are often buying them.
Scrap Catalytic Convertors are used to clean the exhaust system in your car, and they contain trace amount of PLATINUM, Rhodium, and other precious metals.

It depends on what style converter you have.

all depends.my friend has a scrap yard and so converters he get $5 and others he get $50 -
call a scrap place and ask, but yes will get way more than you think -
It's not the catalytic converter that's worth any money it's the titanium inside of it. You can always call a scrap metal yard and ask them what they go for.
